We had an unforgettable Satoyama forest experience in rural Akita during the early summer. We were simply amazed to see fireflies dancing in the night.
Fireflies cannot survive without clean air and water so they are said to be evidence of a pristine natural environment.

"The world is becoming more and more in need of handmade items and placing more emphasis on environmental conservation. It made me realize even more how important it is to spend time in nature and enjoy healthy food in our lives."                                                                               

A message from wine producer Franz Strohmeier

We have 15 years of experience in the wine business in Tokyo, as a sommelier, wine retailer, and wine importer. Over the years we have met many wonderful people within the trade and gained valuable experience.

After meeting hundreds of wine producers, we began to admire the way they live their lives in harmony with nature.

While we were figuring out how to proceed in the future, our experience in the rich nature of Satoyama combined with Franz Strohmeier's message showed us the way forward.

And in 2023 we took a leap and decided to move to Akita.

We built our wine shop, Firefly, and discerningly stocked it with only the wines that we consider to be the most delicious.
