Alluvions 2021
Region: Languedoc, France
Grape: Carignan, Aramon, Syrah
Category: Red
This is a bottle that made me confident in Joe's wines!
It was so delicious that I ended up buying up the whole vintage...
Its clear color makes it hard to believe it is a red wine from the south of France. It is juicy and smooth, with hints of ripe plum, and the aftertaste is lingering.
To be able to produce this wine at just 32 years old is, to say the least, genius.
[Producer information]
A talented young player born in 1992 has emerged.
Like many new winemakers, Joe started out in a career unrelated to wine: he worked in a pharmaceutical factory, but decided he wanted to work in a field related to soil, so he studied agriculture and oenology in Montpellier.
Since 2013, he has continued to train at various wineries in the south of France and Australia, and in 2018 he moved to become independent, with the aim of producing natural wine in his hometown of Gard.
At that time, the vineyards of Alain Allier, a great name in southern France in Mouréship, caught my eye and I was instantly captivated...
I applied to help with the 2018 harvest and brewing, and they readily agreed!
I got along with Alan right away and we became really good friends, in close contact with each other. (I'm too shy to have a decent portrait of him!)
Alain made a surprising proposal to me: "If you have the motivation and can find a vineyard, why don't you make wine in my winery?" Thus, in February 2019, I established my own domaine.
He currently makes wine in Alan's winery, but plans to soon have his own cellar.
Our goal is to create wines that express the terroir and the vineyards.
To achieve this, we need cultivation methods that respect the environment and biodiversity, and we believe that organic and biodynamic cultivation are an unavoidable path.
No additives are used except for a small amount of SO2 at bottling. (They even have wines that are sansfull!)
We are constantly striving to avoid as many defects in our wines as possible.
