Herbes Folles Blanc 2020

Region: France Loire

Grape: Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Gloro Gris

Category:White

A refreshing white wine that will definitely meet the expectations of Loire lovers!

Slightly cloudy green-yellow color. The refreshing scent of lime, green apple, and dill spreads softly, and the round taste with a dry, refreshing acidity and a creamy nuance. I'm also happy to say that the flavor deepens from the middle of the bottle.
2020 was a good year, with good weather during the harvest period. Three varieties grown in cyst soil are pressed, fermented and aged in glass fiber tanks.

[Producer information]

When you think of Savennieres, the first person that comes to mind is Nicolas Joly. A leading pioneer of biodynamics. Clément Baraut is a fellow biodynamic practitioner who started working in Anjou in 2013, just next door. Born on April 28, 1961 in Paris and raised in Burgundy, wine has been around him since he was a child. I studied ennologue at the University of Bordeaux and have been involved in teaching at various wineries, not only as a maker but also as a consultant.

I have worked as an oenologist in the Loire for over 20 years since 1989. Fermenting and bottling sweet wine is difficult, so work like his is extremely valuable. However, just teaching people about wine was no longer enough, and in 2010, as my children grew older, I wanted to take another look at my life, and at the age of 50, I started my own winery to make my dream come true. The place he chose was the Loire, where he had friendships with Nicolas Joly and Marc Angelie, and because he had a connection with the farm that Nicola was giving up in order to downsize his farm. Also, since he knows all about the difficulties of making sweet wine, he seemed to be interested in how naturally sweet wine could be made.

At first, we started with only 2ha of Chenin Blanc, but in 2013 we also found black Grolleau grapes, and now we have 3.5ha. The reason why it was so late to arrive in Japan is because he was already famous in the wine industry, and the first vintage was sold out only in France, and when he heard about it, it was sold out in various countries such as Belgium, America, Canada, Australia, Sweden, etc. Export began in . The current situation is that we are not keeping up with demand.
