LE SCHLOUK 2020

Region: France Alsace

Grape : Gewurztraminer, Riesling

Category: White (orange)

A superb orange that combines energy and elegance.

A deep golden yellow appearance.
A treasure trove of aromas such as lychee, ripe white peach, and white pepper.
When I tasted it for the first time, it was so delicious that I couldn't help but sigh... It's full of bewitching essence.

The wine name means "one bite".
Rich Gewurztraminer, with refreshing blend of elegant and acidic Riesling.

[Producer information]
The brewery is located in the village of Ammerschwihr, located about 10 kilometers northwest of Colmar. Currently, the company owns a total of 12 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Amerswil and Katzenthal.
In 2008, Christian Binaire began brewing without adding SO2, aiming for a clarity that would surpass that of the natural masters of Alsace. He has gained experience while making wine without SO2 additives, and the quality is extremely stable at a high level, making it hard to believe that there are no antioxidants added. This is partly due to the beautiful plot of land on the steep slope that my parents had from their ancestors. The quality of the wine was further boosted by those vineyards, which are hard to find even if you wanted to buy them now.

Frédéric's nephew, Arnaud, who was the previous owner, has now taken over the brewery, and with his youthful sensibilities and genius sense, he is creating new masterpieces one after another.

[Field/Soil/Brewing]
The lower part of the soil is clay/calcareous soil. The topsoil consists of granite, quartzite, and round stones called gre brought from the river. Umami comes from calcareous soil. The mineral feel comes from the granite and quartzite in the topsoil.
Currently, all cuvées are free of antioxidants. Most cuvées are aged in large foudre barrels unique to Alsace.
