DUNE ROSE 2022

Region: Roussillon, France

Grape: Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Muscat

Category: Rosé

A wine that overturns your concept of rosé.

It's been a while since I last drank this, but I couldn't help but groan "Ahhh", and was intoxicated by the richness of the fruit extract and the long lingering flavor...

Ripe figs, prunes and hints of black tea. It's a wine that's easy to drink, but the bottle will run out in no time.

"D'une" in Dunu means "beginning, first step, beginning."
For Pierre Nicolas, who loves the symbol of the egg, this "beginning" represents life, the beginning of life.
It also plays on the word "Dune."
The name was inspired by the image of sand dunes in the desert turning a hot pink in the setting sun.

Pierre Nicolas' first visit to Japan in 2017. He is as full of energy as his wine.

[Producer information]

Clos Massot is a winery located in the heart of the Les Aspres area, sandwiched between the rich natural surroundings of Mount Caniges and the Mediterranean Sea.
It all began when his great-grandfather planted vines on land he purchased around 1900. In 2004, he acquired 7.70 hectares in the village of Trouillas from the family's 30 hectares of land.
The average age of the trees is 70 years, with the oldest being planted in 1910, and they truly express the charm of this site.

Pierre Nicolas's commitment <br>Farming reflects part of his philosophy of life.
He asserts that what feels good to him feels good to his fields and vines, and vice versa.
They also work in the fields with the awareness that, like all living things, the fields and the vines need love, respect and compassion.
They consistently take the position that "it is the grapes themselves that make the decisions," and they stay close to the grapes without intervening unnecessarily.

About the soil and fields : The climate is Mediterranean.
A dry wind called the Tramontane blows.
At the same time, the vineyards are located at a high altitude in Roussillon, which means they are subject to moist winds from the sea.
To strengthen the vines, he makes his own disease control sprays based on native plants (nettle fertilizer, horsetail decoction, thyme, rosemary, mugwort).
I also use essential oils extracted from orange and lavender, as well as baking soda.
They use preparations derived from plants and minerals and practice intuitive, natural farming.
Although he basically practices biodynamic farming methods, he believes it is important to constantly experiment and adapt methods to suit the circumstances at any given time.
