ONDEINE BLANC 2023

Region: France Roussillon

Grape: Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Muscat d'Alexandrie

Category: Orange

A deep amber color with a slight haze.
Hints of Japanese citrus and plenty of creamy fruit extract from yellow peach. The long aftertaste and tannins are intoxicating, like apricot tea.

You can really taste the flavor of the 50-year-old vines, and the fresh acidity and tannins melt into the liquid and seep into your body. An orange that only Pierre Nicolas could express, choosing maceration to reflect the unique characteristics of the grapes and the land in Roussillon, the birthplace of rich red wines.

[Producer information]

Clos Massot is a brewery located in the center of the LES ASPRES area, sandwiched between the rich nature of Mount Canig and the Mediterranean Sea.
It all started when my great-grandfather planted vines on land he purchased around 1900. In 2004, we acquired 7.70 hectares of the family's 30 hectares in the village of Trouillas.
The average age of the trees is 70 years, and the oldest one was planted in 1910, which greatly expresses the charm of this area.

Pierre Nicolas' commitment
It is said that working in the fields reflects part of his life philosophy.
He declares that what feels good to him is also good to his fields and grapes, and vice versa.
In addition, I work in the fields with the awareness that, like all living things, fields and grapes require love, respect, and consideration.
We have always held the position that ``it is the grapes themselves who make the decisions,'' and we do not intervene unnecessarily and work closely with the grapes.

About soil and fields
The climate is Mediterranean.
A dry wind called Tramontane blows.
At the same time, due to the vineyard's high elevation in Roussillon, it is influenced by humid winds from the sea.
In order to strengthen the vines, I make my own disease control sprays based on native plants (liquid nettle fertilizer, horsetail decoction, thyme, rosemary, mugwort).
It also uses essential oils extracted from oranges and lavender, and baking soda.
We practice intuitive and natural farming using prepared materials derived from plants and minerals.
Basically, we practice biodynamic farming, but we believe it is important to constantly repeat trial and error and apply methods that suit the situation at the time.
