【Producer Information】

This producer can be considered a key figure in Styria, which has now become a globally popular wine region.
They are also one of the "Schmeck Das Leben" group of cutting-edge wine producers, which includes Andreas Tscheppe, Werlitsch, and Strohmeier, and shares a common philosophy in this region. They are as close as family and constantly meet to exchange ideas.

The winery of Maria and Sepp Muster is located in the village of Leutschach in South Styria, southern Austria, near the Slovenian border. The family has been working with grapes since their parents acquired the land in 1978, a place that has records dating back to the 18th century. Sepp, who grew up seeing vineyard work up close, studied theory at an oenology school, gained experience at various domaines, and joined the family business in 1990.
An accident in 1994 led to a shift in his outlook on life, and he later discovered biodynamic farming, which he began to practice in the vineyards.

The vineyards are located on hills where cool air meets the warmth of the Mediterranean, and are characterized by marly soil containing limestone (Opok soil). The vines are cultivated in a natural state, and maintaining the vitality of the soil and plants is of utmost importance. In the cellar, winemaking is based on fermentation with wild yeasts and aging in wooden barrels, with a focus on extended periods of time while avoiding excessive intervention. For them, wine is not something to be managed by numbers, but a living, constantly evolving entity.
They believe that by stepping back and quietly observing the workings of the land and life, rather than putting themselves first, the true character of the wine emerges.
