[Producer information]
``I want to use wine as a bridge to connect the world,'' says Daniele Mazzanti, who runs La Cereta deep in the mountains of Maremma, Tuscany. For the past 40 years, La Cereta has been conducting self-contained farming, mainly run by families, in order to produce high-quality traditional local agricultural and livestock products.
It is said that biodynamics was developed to restore the natural balance and establish sustainable agriculture while coexisting with nature. In other words, according to Daniele, it's not just biodynamic for making wine, but vegetables, fruits, cows, horses, pigs, forests... everything is biodynamic, so much so that the entire farm site has been certified as an eco-sale.
Cork trees also grow naturally on the farm, and Daniele says the only things he can't harvest himself are salt and coffee beans. The farm is a place where grapes have been cultivated since ancient times as land suitable for grape cultivation, but since ancient times grapes have been planted mainly in Solatio (meaning a sunny place), which is a plot with the best conditions. However, in 1999, we started producing wine in our current form.
From 2020 , in order to obtain Demeter certification, the farm must raise animals according to the cultivated area. was mandated. Since there are very few farms where you can actually keep animals, Demeter is becoming more and more popular. It is likely that more producers will deny certification. In Laceleta, there are animals such as cows, horses, donkeys, and chickens. We raise many species native to Skana, so there are no problems at all.
Follow the biodynamic concept It is essential to raise animals on a farm, and it is impossible for a farm to be biodynamic if it is a monoculture of grapes. Lacereta is a farm nestled in the middle of a deep forest. The farm is blessed with a rich ecosystem, and even wolves can be seen nearby. It is said that when nature returns, the wolves will also return, but in this case the wolves will not return. One of the wild animals that is always there . It is also proof that the ecosystem is being protected.
