VN TINTO 2022
Region: Catalonia, Spain
Grape: Garnacha Tinta, Sumoy, Trepat, Garu, Keixal de Llop, Samso, Ur de Perdil
Category: Red
The original light and delicious red wine is a must-try.
This is also the first time I've tasted this wine in a while. It lives up to expectations, even after 21 years, and is full of the Partida style. It's so delicious that you'll forget you're eating, and you can enjoy it on its own!
Indigenous varieties have taken root in the terroir of the village of Bonastre, resulting in a naturally light and tasty wine, a flavor truly brought about by nature.
Pale, bright red with hints of wild berries and red berries like glaze.
As in previous years, it is light and easy to drink, but the aftertaste is rounded off by sharp acidity, the bitter taste of citrus peel, and pleasant tannins, bringing the whole thing together. It brings out the pure fruitiness to the fullest.
[Producer information]
Located on the coast of the Catalonia region in northern Spain, 30km northeast of Tarragona.
The owner, Massimo, who is based in the inland village of Bonastre, is a native of Piedmont, Italy.
He grew up in a family that has been making wine for generations.
According to his partner Antonella, "Massimo has wine in his blood!"
The reason I chose this place is because I came to Barcelona 20 years ago for an architectural job and was particularly attracted to the area of Tarragona within Catalonia.
In 2000, he purchased a 2-hectare vineyard and began making wine.
I wanted to live a self-sufficient life in Catalonia,
While searching for a base for his life, Massimo had a shocking encounter! He discovered several old sumoy trees planted in a field surrounded by forest, 200 meters above sea level and 4 km from the sea.
Massimo immediately decided to make wine on this land.
The wines that Massimo makes in true harmony with nature are wines of another dimension, far removed from this world!
The fields are, of course, uncultivated, and the grapes are buried amongst such a wide variety of other plants that at first glance they seem nowhere to be seen.
When I finally found the grape vines, their branches had grown high into the sky, making it a field unlike any I had ever seen before.
"There are no weeds in this field. Every plant in the forest has a role to play and has a beneficial effect on each other."
The winery is dedicated to producing true terroir wines using only local varieties native to the area, such as Semoy, Garou, Vignateur and Cartouche-Vermey, in an environment that nature provides.
