Region: Douro, Portugal
Grape: More than 25 varieties including Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Gouveio, Malvasia, and Moscatel (half white and half black grapes)
Category: Red
A spring/summer staple! A smooth red wine that's almost like rosé.
Transparent pale red.
Juicy fruit flavor of ripe blueberries. At 11.5%, it's so soft and easy to drink that the bottle is empty in no time...
Even if you chill it a little, you can still enjoy the complex flavor and umami of the blend of black and white grapes.
This is a revival of the local wine that was drunk daily in the Douro until over 60 years ago.
A blend of all varieties of grapes, including white and black grapes.
Almost the whole bunch is lightly trodden and macerated for three days.

He finally fulfilled his childhood dream and became independent.
From an early age, Tiago watched his grandfather work in the fields and knew he wanted to become a winemaker and grow grapes.
While attending a regular high school, he also studied at an agricultural college. He also studied agriculture and brewing at university, and then studied agricultural engineering. After that, he gained five years of experience in agriculture and brewing in Oregon, where he earned his doctorate.
In 2007, he finally returned to Douro, Portugal, and revived the vineyards that his grandparents had cherished as his own!
Folias de Bacchus means "The Merry Feasts of Bacchus".
Modern brewing techniques are used, while maintaining the tradition of stomping, with minimal human intervention. In most cases, the wine is brewed in Grape Antilles, in lagares (traditional Douro barrels), with light stomping or almost no crushing.
They value tradition while also making judicious use of their knowledge of modern brewing techniques.
Only wild yeasts are used, and the red wines are fermented in the traditional Douro style using mixed plantings.
More than 25 varieties are planted in a single field!
His vineyards are located at the highest altitude (550m-700m) in the Douro subzone of Sima Corgo, a cool place. It is the highest altitude, and it is so cool that even though it is in the Douro, Porto production is not allowed here.
The fields have shallow schist soil with lots of stones on top, and some parts have granite soil, making it the poorest soil in the Douro.
By using cultivation methods that respect nature, he is convinced that in this environment, where locals have previously believed it impossible to produce high-quality wine, he can produce the kind of fresh wine he wants, one that reflects the minerals of the land.
I am forging ahead on the path I believe in!
