NV/MACVIN DU JURA BLANC
Region: Jura, France
Grape: Chardonnay
Category: Sweet wine
Made with grapes from 2016 to 2018.
The sweetness and bitterness of quince, apricot, and orange peel.
From the back, brown sugar, macadamia nuts,
A nostalgic scent reminiscent of hay with hints of cacao.
There is also a faint aroma of marl.
All of this creates an exquisite harmony!
Because the clay soil keeps the acidity well,
You will be intoxicated by the pleasant, long aftertaste, which never fades or lingers.

[Producer information]
The brewery's name comes from Fumay (his father's surname) and Châteaulain (his mother's surname).
His grandparents were farmers, growing grain and raising dairy cows for Comté cheese, but in the mid- 1980s , his parents, Raphaël and Adeline, began growing grapes. They initially made a living selling grapes (to Henri Maire, the largest domaine in the Jura!).
In 1991 , a late frost damaged 95% of the Jura, bringing a setback to their successful business. However, they didn't give up and instead decided to make their own wine with the few remaining grapes, which is how the Domaine was born. They borrowed winemaking equipment from acquaintances and relatives (including Stephane!) and managed to establish the Domaine.
After struggling since their first vintage in 1991, they finally achieved their dream of owning a winery in Montigny-les-Arsures, a village next to Arbois, in 1999. A few years ago, they purchased a vineyard from Stephan, and now they produce wine from over 20 plots, totaling 17 hectares of land, including Arbois!
Currently, the domaine is run by his son, Maran, who grew up helping his parents in the fields and naturally took up the path of winemaking.
After earning a degree from a winemaking school in Burgundy, Marin began helping his parents at the age of 19 .
He felt he needed to travel and study to find out what kind of wine he wanted to make, so he gained a lot of experience as a winemaker in Australia, South Africa, and other countries.
About the fields
The vineyard is located at an altitude of 300-400m , and covers a total area of 17 hectares , of which 80% is marl and 20% is limestone.
Like Stefan's field, it dates from the Lias period of the Early Jurassic and even older Triassic periods.
Since 2017 , all of the domaine's vineyards have been converted to organic farming.
Originally I wasn't interested in certification, but with Maran joining the company I thought it might as well be a good opportunity, so I am currently applying for organic certification and should receive it soon.
His winemaking mentors are his father and Stephane Tissot!
Maran's winemaking motto is to create "living wines that stir the soul."
He also shared his dream of growing fruit and grains in the future, raising cattle, and turning the property into a farm rather than a domaine.
The young winemaker Maran strives every day to create honest wine that tastes like the land, a product that can only be achieved by growing grapes that protect the natural environment!
